Éorzéa est la région comprenant Aldenard, le continent le plus à l'ouest de la Trigée, et les îles qui l'entourent, comme Vylbrand et Mazlaya. Riche en éther et dotée d'une nature foisonnante, elle est habitée par les humains depuis des temps reculés et parfois surnommée “la terre bénie des Dieux”, en référence aux douze divinités qui y sont vénérées. Pendant longtemps, les six cités-États éorzéennes que sont Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul'dah, Ishgard, Ala Mhigo et Sharlayan ont connu une relative période de stabilité. Un calme qui prit fin brutalement en l'an 1557 de la 6e ère astrale, lorsque l'empire de Garlemald entreprit d'étendre ses frontières au-delà du continent d'Ilsabard et annexa Ala Mhigo, ce qui provoqua l'exode des colons sharlayanais de l'Arrière-pays dravanien pour regagner leur patrie dans les îles septentrionales. Au paroxysme de cette ère de chaos survint le septième fléau, une terrible épreuve que surmontèrent les peuples éorzéens unis dans l'adversité. Ce tournant marqua le début d'un nouvel élan de lutte, au terme duquel l'invasion impériale fut repoussée, la millénaire Guerre du chant des dragons prit fin et Ala Mhigo fut libérée. Autant de bouleversements qui permirent à Éorzéa de goûter à une paix retrouvée.

Comprised of Aldenard, the westernmost of the Three Great Continents, and its surrounding islands, the realm of Eorzea has, throughout history, been the cradle of several unique civilizations. Rich in aether and blessed with an abundance of natural resources, it is often said to be “embraced by gods” in reference to the Twelve─the pillars upon which the religious faith of many Eorzeans firmly rests. As recently as a few decades ago, the six city-states of Eorzea coexisted in an age of relative stability. Alas, this peace was shattered in the year 1557 of the Sixth Astral Era, when the Garlean Empire embarked upon a campaign of Eorzean conquest. Ala Mhigo soon fell, and the promise of continued violence saw the nation of Sharlayan abandon its Dravanian colony, recalling its citizens to the motherland in the northern seas. In this way was Eorzea plunged once more into an age of strife. The Seventh Umbral Calamity followed, bringing with it unspeakable devastation, but the resilient people of Eorzea endured. Joining hands in common cause, they eventually succeeded in defeating the imperial invaders. In Ishgard, the millennium-long Dragonsong War was later brought to an end, and after a joint campaign by the Eorzean Alliance and the Ala Mhigan Resistance, the twenty-year Garlean occupation of Ala Mhigo ended in liberation. Thus did the realm obtain a measure of peace.

Der größte der Drei Großen Kontinente, welcher Aldenard im Westen sowie die den Subkontinent umgebenden Inseln Vylbrand und Mazlaya umfasst. Reich an Äther und natürlichen Ressourcen ist Eorzea seit jeher dicht besiedelt und wird daher mit Bezug auf die zwölf eorzäischen Gottheiten auch „das von den Göttern geliebte Land“ genannt. Die sechs großen Stadt­staaten Eorzeas - Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul'dah, Ishgard, Ala Mhigo und Sharlayan - erlebten eine lange Zeit des Friedens, bis im Jahre 1557 der Sechsten Ära des Lichts die Garlear einfielen und Ala Mhigo unter ihre Herrschaft brachten. Die Sharlayaner beschlossen den Auszug aus ihrer Kolonie und flohen ins Mutterland im Nordmeer. Eine neue Zeit des Chaos war angebrochen. Nach der Siebten Katastrophe gewann die Eorzäische Allianz jedoch gegenüber den Garlearn an Stärke und es gelang ihr, den langjährigen Drachenkrieg in Ishgard zu beenden und Ala Mhigo zu befreien. Seither wird das Land von größeren Unruhen verschont.

世界最大の大陸である「三大州」のうち、西側に位置するアルデナード小大陸と、その周辺に浮かぶバイルブランド島やマズラヤ島などの島々を含めた文化圏のことを「エオルゼア」と呼ぶ。 　この一帯は環境エーテルに恵まれており、自然環境が豊かであることから、古来より多くの人々が暮らしてきた。そのため、しばしば当地で信仰されてきたエオルゼア十二神を引き合いに、「神々に愛されし地」とも称される。 　近代のエオルゼアにおいては、俗に「エオルゼア六大都市」と呼ばれる都市国家群、すなわちリムサ・ロミンサ、グリダニア、ウルダハ、イシュガルド、アラミゴ、シャーレアンが並立し、比較的安定した「凪の時代」を迎えていた。ところが第六星暦1557年にイルサバード大陸の覇権国家「ガレマール帝国」の侵略を受け、アラミゴが陥落。シャーレアンが植民都市を放棄して、北洋諸島へと「大撤収」するなどして混迷の時代に突入することとなる。 　しかし、第七霊災を経て、エオルゼア都市軍事同盟がガレマール帝国の軍勢を退けると、イシュガルドにおける竜詩戦争の終結や、アラミゴの帝国支配下からの解放といった好材料が続き、現在は平穏を取り戻している。
