Cet édifice massif avait été construit par les Sharlayanais pour conserver les myriades de livres et autres documents qu'ils avaient accumulés au cours de leurs pérégrinations en Éorzéa. Bien que la majorité des ouvrages qui y étaient entreposés aient été emportés lors de l'exode, il resterait de nombreux textes interdits dans des salles scellées magiquement.
